LT' FETES YOUNG FILMMAKERS

Three of five Lyons Township High School student filmmakers presented awards May 28 for outstanding work shown to their peers and public at District 204's first-ever film festival are from La Grange.

Winners include: First place in the Experimental category, “The Last Time” by junior Tony DiBiase; Second place in the Cut Paper Animation category, “Obama’s New Suit” by senior Phillip Leonard and senior Danny Galin, all of LaGrange.

The other winners included Indian Head Park senior Ben Kabialis -- who worked with Leonard and Galin and sophomore Andy Jarosz of Brookfield, who captured third place in the Drama category for “Noise.”

All winning students received retail gift cards after being recognized.

The MANE event, an acronym for the Media Arts Night of Entertainment was attended by about 100 students, parents and community members, who also enjoyed appetizers and refreshments prepared by Chef’s class students before the screenings began.

The program was presented in two parts: film screenings and question and answer sessions with filmmakers. Judges then evaluated the works to determine award-winning submissions.
